An Architecture Poster Series for Homes in Warm Climates
OBJECTIVE
Create a typographic poster series for an architecture conference. Identify a central theme as well as three different topics surrounding it. The three topics must be related with each other in some way. Select a single word to represent each topic, and create the three words from scratch using appropriate materials which convey the meaning of the word. Consider the different ways that materials can be manipulated in order to create various letterforms.
APPROACH
I chose to develop a poster series on architectural considerations for homes in warm climates. Each poster displays a different way heat can be mitigated within a household. The first topic, fill, shows the insulation used to block heat from entering a home. The second topic, vent, shows how windows can circulate air throughout a home. The third topic, hide, shows the use of shade in order to reduce the area of contact from direct sunlight.
